Why ‘Awaken Indians’?
Most Indians are aware that they have a great culture, but few would be able to tell why. This is mainly because during centuries of alien rule they have been led to believe that every major achievement is an import from Europe. They tend to forget the many significant contributions to science and various other fields, which India had made for hundreds of years before the first Europeans came to India.
There is evidence that more than 3,000 years before the birth of Christ, people of this sub-continent had much scientific knowledge. Relics of the Indus Valley civilization, found at Harappa and Mohenjo-daro, indicate that their cities were well planned, with excellent water supply and drainage systems. The progress they had made in agriculture, brick-making craft and industry was remarkable. Their clothes were made of cotton. There were expert astronomers, mathematicians and geometricians.
However, there were several invasions, which wrought irreparable damage. Indians themselves forgot this glorious scientific past until the Indus Valley civilization was discovered in 1921.
After Independence, India is now a member of the nuclear club, the space club and the Antarctica exploration club. It has the world’s third largest pool of trained technologists. In what remain to be done for India to catch up with the advanced countries, much has clearly been done.
What is Awakening the Indian within?
Awakening the Indian within is an initiative in response to the rampant chest beating that is ‘mera bharat mahan’ and also the skeptics that ridicule it.
Well, Simply put. A lot of ‘nationalistic’ people would keep thumping ‘Mera Bharat Mahan’ and when you ask them why is that so? They would say ‘bas hain’ or coz ‘I am an Indian’ or any other worthless crap.
Awakening the Indian within is the answer to them. We give you and all of them a reason to be a proud Indian. We give you a reason to say Mera Bharat Mahaan!
And of course there are the other kind too. Yes, I am talking about the Skeptics. The kinds who say that India is a worthless dirty country.
Our answer to them is Awakening the Indian within. Ignorance of the facts does not mean that they don’t exist.
There is nothing wrong in being proud of your national identity. It is only wrong if its not real. Everything we talk about is real. We actually have achieved soo much as a nation. It is time me appreciate it.
